The Family Photographer
So what do I do when I'm not shooting weddings? Well photography is not just a job, but a passion, and one of my favorite things is photographing my family. I've had a few occasions recently to pull out the camera, so I wanted to share a few images from my life.
Last week I took Ryan up to visit my sister, my 3 1/2 year old nephew Michael and baby Nicholas, the newest member of the clan. We had fun just hanging out and watching all the boys play.
And last night, I finally convinced Carolyn to let me take some pictures of her and Ryan. I've taken lots of pictures of Ryan alone, but hardly any with him and mom. For anyone who knows Carolyn, this took some major arm twisting. She's one of the more demanding subjects I've ever photographed, but once she gets in front of the camera she's a natural. Unfortunately, our shoot lasted only 20 minutes before one of my subjects got really cranky and we had to shut it down (hint: it wasn't Ryan).
Here are some shots from my sister's house. I'm so jealous of their abundant natural light. Ryan wasn't as impressed.
Here's Michael, my assistant in training. Canon all the way.
I love how he's getting low and working the angles already. "Look to the left and show me serious."
Baby Nicholas was content to sleep the day away. Opening his eyes is not high on his agenda so far.
I'm not too sure what he's doing here, but it's pretty darn cute.

It takes an amazingly talented photographer to coax a smile out of a one week old. Either that or a tummy full of gas.
Michael is a master of the flash cards.
I can't believe how old Ryan looks next to Nicholas.
All the boys...

Here are some shots from our photo shoot last night. We had some really nice evening light to work with. Leave a comment if you think Carolyn should let me take more pictures of her!

I think this is my favorite shot of the evening...
